Job summary

Sargent & Lundy invites talented students to join as a Substation Engineer Intern in our Grid team in Chicago. You will assist senior engineers on projects spanning transmission, substations, distribution, renewables, and energy storage, applying your engineering coursework to real-world designs and calculations.

Under supervision, you will help prepare calculations, specifications, and designs, track project activities, and contribute to equipment specifications and installation planning.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in BS/MS in engineering with coursework in coding, 3D modeling/design, and AI.
• Knowledge of design techniques and ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter who can work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and data.
• Be involved in power designs and the preparation of specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
