Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid team and contribute to engineering projects involving transmission, substation, and related power systems. You will work under senior engineers on design calculations, reporting, and equipment specifications.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a BS/MS in engineering, with courses in coding, 3D modeling, and AI-related tools, and demonstrate strong organizational skills and independence.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree with strong preference in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering.
• Coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using agentic AI.
• Knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project reporting, tracking progress and data.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment and related installation services.
