Job summary

Xcel Energy invites you to join our team as a Substation Field Engineering Intern, a role blending office design with hands-on field exposure to substations. You will assist engineers in reviewing drawings, developing work packages, and tracking schedules for safety-critical projects.

The internship starts May 24, 2027. You must be a current student enrolled in ABET-accredited programs in Electrical Engineering or related fields, able to work full-time in summer and part-time during the school

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per hybrid policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Support development of construction work packages and scope of work documents.
• Help track project schedules, budgets, and material deliveries.
