Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Engineer Intern to join the Grid team and assist engineers on transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and energy storage projects. Summer 2027 start date; you will gain hands-on exposure to engineering calculations, design tasks, and project reporting.

Under senior engineers, you’ll assist with specifications for major electrical equipment and procurement, and expand your coursework in coding and 3D modeling while contributing to real-world power

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a BS or MS degree, preferably EE/ME/Aerospace/Chemical, plus coursework in coding and 3D modeling.
• Familiarity with design techniques and 3D visualization of parts without CAD aid.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
• Self-starter who works independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Support project reporting: track progress and related data.
• Contribute to power design work and procurement specifications for major equipment and installation services.
