Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid team in the United States. You will assist senior engineers across transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and energy storage projects, contributing to calculations, designs, and project reporting.

Active enrollment in an engineering BS/MS program is expected, with preference for EE/ME/AE/ChE and coursework in coding, 3D modeling, and AI-related tools.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in BS or MS degree with preference in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering, and/or coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using AI.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of technical plans and 3D visualization.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
• ABET accreditation is valued but not required.
• Familiarity with AI applications and leadership experience are encouraged.
• GPA 3.0 strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and related data.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
