Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid business unit in Farmington Hills, MI. You will assist senior engineers on projects involving transmission, substation, and renewable energy systems, contributing to design work and reporting for various power projects.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in BS/MS engineering programs with strong coding, 3D modeling, and AI experience, and can work independently with strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in BS/MS engineering with EE/ME/AE/CE focus.
• Coursework in coding, 3D modeling, and agentic AI.
• Ability to visualize 3D parts without computer aid.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Independent, self-motivated with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify and prioritize issues to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project reporting: track progress and data.
• Prepare procurement specifications for major electrical power equipment and installation services.
