Job summary

Substation Engineer Intern at Sargent & Lundy will contribute to projects across transmission, substation, distribution, renewables, and battery storage. You will work with senior engineers to execute design work and gain hands-on experience on project teams.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in BS/MS programs in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering with coursework in coding, 3D modeling, and AI. Summer 2027 start is targeted.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree with preference in engineering and related coursework.
• Knowledge of design techniques for 2D/3D drawings and models and ability to visualize parts in 3D.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project reporting and progress tracking.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
