Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join our Grid business unit. You will assist senior engineers on projects involving transmission, substation, distribution, renewables, and energy storage system design and upgrades.

You'll gain hands-on experience by preparing engineering calculations, specifications, and designs, tracking project activity, and supporting procurement documentation under supervision.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in BS/MS with preference for EE/ME/Aerospace/Chemical and coursework in coding, 3D design, and AI experience.
• Ability to visualize 3D parts without a computer.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify issues quickly and meet deadlines.
• Enrollment in ABET-accredited program preferred.
• Familiarity with AI apps and/or agents encouraged.
• Prior internship or co-op experience preferred.
• GPA 3.0 strongly preferred.
• Leadership experience in campus or community.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data.
• Prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical equipment and installation services.
