Job summary

Powerserve Technologies is seeking a Substation Design Engineer (Civil/Structural) to join our remote-friendly team in Florida. You will design civil and structural aspects of substations, collaborating with electrical engineers and project teams to deliver constructible designs.

Ideal candidates have a civil/structural background, 3+ years of design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and STAAD. PE license is a plus, with licensure achievable within 2–3 years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of civil/structural design experience (substation or utility experience preferred).
• Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design civil and structural components of electrical substations.
• Prepare and review foundation designs for equipment, control buildings, and steel structures.
• Develop structural steel layouts and details.
• Plan site grading, drainage, and erosion control."
• Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and code compliance checks.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Collaborate with clients, utilities, and permitting agencies.
• Provide occasional field support during construction (light travel within Florida).
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Ensure designs meet IEEE, ASCE, ACI, and local/state codes.
