Job summary

Powerserve Technologies is seeking a Substation Design Engineer (Civil/Structural) to work remotely from Florida. The role focuses on civil and structural design for electrical substations, collaborating with electrical engineers and project teams to deliver complete, constructible design packages.

The ideal candidate has a civil/structural background, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and STAAD. Florida licensure or a plan to obtain PE within 2–3 years is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in civil/structural design
• Proficiency with engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD, or similar)
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, foundations, and site development
• Ability to work cross-functionally in an EPC/project-based environment

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil and structural components of electrical substations
• Prepare and review foundations designs for equipment, control buildings, steel structures
• Prepare structural steel layouts and details
• Plan site grading, drainage, and erosion control
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and code compliance reviews
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design feasibility
• Collaborate with clients, utilities, and permitting agencies
• Provide occasional field support during construction (light travel within Florida)
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and submittals
• Ensure designs meet IEEE, ASCE, ACI, and local/state codes
