Job summary

Powerserve Technologies in Florida is seeking a Substation Design Engineer (Civil/Structural) to join our remote-friendly team. You will focus on civil and structural design for substations, collaborating with electrical engineers and project teams to deliver complete, constructible designs.

Ideal candidates hold a civil or structural engineering degree, 3+ years of design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D/STAAD, and a working knowledge of IEEE, ASCE, and local codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in civil/structural design; substation or utility experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD, or similar).
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, foundations, and site development.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in an EPC/project-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil and structural components of electrical substations.
• Prepare and review foundation designs for equipment, control buildings, and steel structures; develop structural layouts and details.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance with standards; perform code compliance reviews.
• Provide occasional field support during construction (light travel within Florida).
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and submittals; ensure adherence to IEEE, ASCE, and local codes.
