Job summary

Summit School Services in Illinois is hiring a Bus Assistant to support safe transportation of students. You will help students board and exit the bus, monitor behavior, and ensure proper use of seat belts and restraints while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must satisfactorily complete training and attend safety meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus in a safe manner.
• Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; share concerns about behavior.
• Seat students safely using seat belts, car seats or wheelchair restraints.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and conduct rules are followed.
• Document and report any violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority.
• Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency.
• Assist Driver in keeping the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Attend training and safety meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
