Job summary

Summit School Services is seeking a school bus assistant to help students board and exit buses safely, manage behavior, and support drivers during daily transportation of children. The role emphasizes safety, professionalism, and strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Applicants should be at least 18, pass training and safety meetings, and be capable of lifting and assisting students as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old (19 for NY state).
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must complete training and attend safety meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus safely.
• Monitor student behavior and report concerns to supervisor.
• Seat students safely using seat belts or restraints as needed.
• Serve as a role model with a positive attitude and integrity.
• Keep the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork promptly.
