Job summary

Summit School Services in Illinois is hiring a Bus Assistant to support safe student transportation. You will help students board and alight, assist with seating and safety restraints, and support the bus driver under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must meet physical and medical requirements.
• Must complete and pass all training and safety meetings.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children.
• Strong professionalism and diplomacy with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering or exiting the bus safely.
• Exhibits ethical behavior and reports concerns to supervisor.
• Seat students safely using restraints as required.
• Monitor student conduct to ensure safety regulations are followed.
• Document and report violations to appropriate authority.
• Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency.
• Keep the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork and submit promptly.
• Attend training, safety meetings and in-service sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.
