Job summary

Summit School Services is hiring Bus Assistants to support safe student transport in our Warrenville, Illinois operations. You will help students board and exit the bus, ensure proper seating and restraints, and monitor behavior to uphold safety standards.

You’ll work with drivers, complete documentation, and participate in ongoing safety training. The role emphasizes professionalism, strong communication, and a calm, helpful presence with students, families, and school staff.

Qualifications

• Must have a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity to safely use restraints and assist mobility devices.
• Ability to relate to and work well with children and maintain positive pupil behavior.
• Professional demeanor and strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with entering and exiting the bus safely.
• Seat students using belts, car seats or wheel chair restraints as needed.
• Monitor passengers to ensure safety regulations and conduct rules are followed.
• Report violations or concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Assist the driver and keep the interior clean and presentable.
• Complete required paperwork and attend training and safety meetings.
• Provide a role model with a positive attitude and professional appearance.
• Attend all assigned trainings and in-service meetings.
