Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level City Year AmeriCorps Member to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will plan and monitor student progress, support teachers, and contribute to classroom instruction with partners.

Initial 2–4 weeks of training are provided, and the role focuses on literacy, math, attendance, and positive behavior development within a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
