Job summary

The State of South Carolina seeks a Success Coach to provide comprehensive student support services, helping prospective and current students with onboarding, academic planning, registration, and referrals to college resources.

This role collaborates across Academic Affairs and Student Services to promote enrollment, persistence, and student success, maintaining records and guiding students through financial aid resources and advising processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in student services programs.
• Experience in student services, academic advising, enrollment management, retention, or student success programs in higher education.
• Knowledge of student support resources and advising practices.
• Experience using student information systems and advising platforms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tech.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise prospective, new, returning, transfer, and continuing students with onboarding, academic planning, registration, and referrals to appropriate college resources and services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with assigned academic departments to support student success initiatives and advising communications.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to an assigned caseload of students navigating academic, financial, and personal challenges.
• Monitor student progress, respond to early alert notifications, and implement proactive intervention strategies.
• Utilize student success technologies and reporting tools to track engagement, progress, and outcomes.
• Review and maintain student records, onboarding documents, forms, and reports with confidentiality.
• Assist students with identifying financial aid resources, registration processes, academic support services, and career services.
• Participate in student success initiatives, outreach activities, and institutional committees.
