Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school. You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction, and support students through literacy and math activities in a caring learning environment.

The program provides 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year and a bi-weekly living stipend, plus AmeriCorps benefits and location-based support.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; 2-4 weeks training provided.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied learning activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and team to monitor student progress and data.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students before, during and after school.
