Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them succeed academically and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor individual progress and support teachers with in-class instruction and student assistance.

Training is provided, with 2-4 weeks at the start of the year, and opportunities to participate in whole-school initiatives and family engagement programs. A bi-weekly stipend supports your service year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to pass a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement behavior management systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress using City Year’s data system.
• Contribute to engaging classroom spaces and school initiatives.
