Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school, helping them earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors.

As an entry level, paid, full-time role, you will receive 2–4 weeks of start‑of-year training and join partner teachers to support classroom instruction, student progress and school initiatives, with roles starting by July/August 2025 depending on location.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development
• Work with teachers and partners to monitor progress

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan and monitor individual student progress
• Assist with in-class instruction and student support
• Develop behavior management and literacy/math skills
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Support after-school and extended day programs
• Participate in school events recognizing student growth
