Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary, middle, or high schools. This entry-level, paid, full-time role focuses on helping students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will receive 2–4 weeks of initial training, work with partner teachers and school staff, and plan targeted supportive activities across classrooms and programs. July/August 2025 start dates may vary by location.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to support academic and behavioral growth.
• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; work authorization required.
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025; GED/high school diploma or some college acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 or in small groups; monitor progress.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and attendance.
• Collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.
• Support school-wide engagement and after-school programs.
