Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high schools in Norman, OK. You will help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors, working closely with teachers to support classroom instruction and school-wide initiatives.

The program provides 2–4 weeks of initial training, plus ongoing guidance from partner teachers and school staff throughout the year.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (DACA status not eligible).
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support teachers with literacy, math, and in-class activities.
• Contribute to a safe, engaging classroom environment.
• Assist with after-school programs, enrichment, and student clubs.
• Monitor student progress and participate in data reviews.
