Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level, paid full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students in Oklahoma. You will coach and mentor students, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to improve attendance and behavior.

Training is provided, with ongoing guidance from school staff. You’ll participate in literacy and math activities, create a positive classroom environment, and engage families through school programs and outreach.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Begin City Year by July/August 2025 (location varies).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary to high school students to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers and staff.
• Support literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Assist with school-wide programs to increase student engagement.
