Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools, providing 1:1 and small-group support to boost attendance, literacy, math, and positive behaviors. You'll plan progress, collaborate with teachers, and help create engaging, inclusive classrooms.

Training is provided, and you’ll work with school staff to implement whole‑class and after‑school programs, with a focus on building skills and fostering student growth throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with authorization to work in the U.S.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously
• Able to pass background check and start by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups
• Develop literacy and math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor student progress
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher
• Support Whole School initiatives and after-school programs to boost engagement
