Job summary

Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) seeks a Student Success Advisor to guide prospective and current students toward career pathways in academic and workforce programs aligned with their interests and skills. This role helps students overcome non-academic barriers, assists with credential completion, and connects them with college and community support services, while tracking outreach.

In-person position with travel to off-site locations and local high schools; regular Monday–Friday

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Knowledge of barriers to educational success and helping others.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow up, document interactions, and provide customer service.
• Comfort with technology and independent or team work.

Responsibilities

• Identify career pathways with prospective and current students.
• Help students overcome non-academic barriers to educational goals.
• Coordinate with college and community support services and track outreach.
• Utilize technology tools and maintain records of interactions.
