Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in local schools. You will coach elementary to high school students, support literacy and math growth, and help improve attendance and behavior while collaborating with teachers and school staff.

You will undergo training, work with partners, and receive a biweekly living stipend plus benefits. This is a full-time, paid AmeriCorps role starting mid-2025 in various locations across the United States.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress
• Support before/after school and enrichment programs
• Assist with data collection and reviews of student progress
