Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior. You will work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting teachers with literacy, math activities, and classroom management. Training is provided, and you will collaborate closely with school staff to monitor student progress.

The role offers structured AmeriCorps benefits, a bi-weekly stipend, and relocation support, with start dates in July/August 2025 depending on location.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college or degree
• Have not served more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Background check required
• Begin City Year by July/August 2025 (location varies)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and math activities and encourage completion of assignments
• Create and implement positive behavior plans
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and discuss student progress
• Help run in-class instruction and after-school programs
• Foster a safe, engaging classroom environment in partnership with staff
