Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time position that focuses on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and improved attendance. You will work with teachers and students in elementary to high school, providing 1:1 and small-group support, plus in-class assistance.

Training is provided, with a start by July/August 2025 in coordination with school staff. Benefits include health/dental/vision, EAP programs, relocation assistance, and bi-weekly living stipend,

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Willing to undergo background check
• Available to start by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement behavior management systems
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily routines and reflection
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space with teachers
