Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is a full-time, entry-level role focusing on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors.

You will work with teachers and school staff to monitor progress, deliver literacy and math activities, and create engaging learning spaces while receiving training and ongoing support throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to promote academic success, attendance, and positive behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual progress and support class instruction with teachers.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for literacy and math skills.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data in City Year’s data system.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
