Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary, middle, and high schools. The program focuses on academic coaching, attendance improvement, and positive behavior development, working closely with teachers and staff to monitor progress and provide targeted support.

Ample training is provided (2–4 weeks) at the start, with a focus on building leadership, teamwork and community impact. This is a full-time AmeriCorps year of service in the United States.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the U.S. as an AmeriCorps member.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously.
• Background check required.
• Start by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching for identified students.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily activities and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year data systems.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support extended day and after-school programs, including enrichment, homework help, and clubs.
