Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, supporting elementary to high school students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior. You’ll plan progress with teachers, provide 1:1 and group support, and help create a thriving classroom environment.

AmeriCorps members receive extensive training, a living stipend, and benefits, with placement across partner schools in the U.S. July/August 2025 start.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or mentoring students is helpful.
• Able to plan and monitor progress with teachers and staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create a behavior management system for students.
• Support in-class instruction and progress reviews with teachers.
• Collaborate with staff to collect and analyze student data in City Year systems.
• Foster an engaging, safe classroom space with the teacher.
