Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to boost academic performance, attendance and classroom engagement, working with teachers to support individual and group learning in elementary, middle and/or high schools. You will monitor progress, plan evidence-based activities and create a positive learning space.

Experience is not required; City Year offers 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing support from a diverse team as you contribute to school-wide initiatives and student

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is required).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to boost academic performance, attendance and positive behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class support and whole-class instruction.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students, including small-group and 1:1 sessions.
• Engage in school-wide programs and events to enhance student learning and growth.
