Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member role focuses on coaching and mentoring students in elementary to high school, aiming to boost academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. Training is provided up front, with collaboration with teachers and school staff throughout the year.

The position is full-time and located in U.S. schools, with a comprehensive benefits package for City Year members and AmeriCorps participants.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring of students across grades
• Plan and monitor individual student progress
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Support data collection and monitoring of student progress
• Create engaging, safe, and healthy classroom spaces
• Assist with extended day and virtual programming
• Support and co-lead events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
