Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools, focusing on improving academic outcomes, attendance, and behavior. Training is provided, with ongoing support from teachers and school staff to ensure student progress throughout the year.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year provided.
• Ability to coach and mentor students to achieve academic success.
• Commitment to working with students, teachers and school staff in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individualized student progress and collaborate with teachers on instruction.
• Support whole-school initiatives and extracurricular programs that engage students and families.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers and City Year staff.
