Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school, helping to ensure that students in schools receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindset to thrive and contribute to their community.

As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you will coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Training is provided, and the role is entry-level, paid, and full-time.

Qualifications

• Training provided at the start of the year to support you.
• AmeriCorps eligibility and program requirements are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school.
• Recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
