City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high schools, supporting academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. Training is provided and you’ll collaborate with teachers to implement in-class strategies.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes 2–4 weeks of training, comprehensive benefits, a bi-weekly living stipend, and a US Education Award through AmeriCorps; start date varies by location.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided at start of year.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for coaching students and collaborating with teachers.
• Ability to manage time, organize activities and track student progress.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help students develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Support teachers with classroom instruction and student progress data entry.
