Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improved attendance in elementary, middle, and/or high schools.

You’ll work with teachers, plan targeted activities, monitor progress, and help create a positive classroom environment as part of a full-time, paid service year.

The program includes training, health benefits, a modest living stipend, and an education award, with emphasis on service, teamwork, and community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in mentoring or tutoring is helpful.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress.
• Strong communication with students and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create a positive classroom space with teachers.
• Monitor progress and participate in reviews of student data.
