Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor as part of the AmeriCorps program. You will coach and mentor students across grade levels to improve academics, attendance, and behavior with support from teachers and staff.

Comprehensive 2–4 week training is provided at the start of the year. You’ll work closely with partner teachers to implement engaging, inclusive classroom activities and student support across classrooms.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program*
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan and monitor individual student progress
• Collaborate with teachers on class activities and in-class student support
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students
• Assist with coordinating extended day and after-school programs
• Contribute to creating a safe, engaging classroom environment
• Track student progress and participate in reviews of data
