Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school, helping them achieve academic success and develop positive behaviors in school.

You will receive 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and collaborate with partner teachers to support whole-class instruction and targeted student progress, benefiting students, teachers, and the school community.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; DACA status not eligible.
• Ages 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Background check required.
• Available to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academics and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Work with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students.
• Create engaging, safe classroom space with teachers.

Education
