Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member serves as a coach and mentor to students across grade levels, helping them earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors within the classroom.

You’ll receive 2–4 weeks of training at the start, plus a bi-weekly living stipend and benefits. You’ll collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and support school initiatives to foster student growth.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and math activities according to student level
• Create and implement behavior management strategies
• Collaborate with teachers to track student progress in City Year data system
• Help run extended day and after-school programs and events
