Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students, boosting academic success and attendance. You will plan and monitor student progress and work with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.

Training is provided, and you’ll collaborate with school staff to foster a positive classroom environment while participating in enrichment and service-learning activities that benefit both students and the school community.

Qualifications

• No experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Available to begin by July/August 2025.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Background check clearance required.
• GED or high school diploma or higher.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academics and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers.
• Support literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space with teachers.
• Assist with after-school and enrichment programs.
• Collect and monitor student progress data.
