Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic success, improve attendance, and foster positive behaviors within classrooms and during school activities.

Training is provided, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff. You will participate in AmeriCorps benefits and federal programs, helping students develop skills and mindsets to thrive in school and the community.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Age 17–25 by July 1, 2025, depending on location
• Some college experience or college degree preferred
• Commitment to completing service terms and a background check

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and growth
• Support teachers with instruction and classroom activities
• Create a safe, engaging, and healthy classroom environment
• Assist with after-school activities, enrichment, and leadership development
