Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is an entry-level, paid, full-time position focused on coaching and mentoring students across grade levels. You will support academic success, attendance, and behavior while partnering with teachers to enhance classroom instruction and student engagement.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with school staff. The role includes benefits and a pathway to contribute to city-wide educational outcomes through AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided.
• Coaches and mentors students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plans and monitors individual student progress with teachers.
• Supports literacy and math skill development through varied activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills varying learning activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning, practice, reflection and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect and monitor student progress.
