Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in U.S. schools, coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and positive behaviors. You’ll plan, monitor, and support classroom instruction with teachers, promoting attendance, literacy, and math skills while building a safe learning environment.

Training provided at year start. Open to motivated individuals aged 17–25, with a GED or higher, willing to undergo background checks and begin by July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to student levels.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and analyze student progress.
• Support Whole School initiatives, after-school and virtual programming.
