Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools across the United States. This entry-level, full-time position includes training at the start of the year and collaboration with teachers to support students’ academic progress, attendance, and behavior.

You will participate in 2-4 weeks of initial training and work with partner teachers and school staff to implement literacy, math, and social-emotional strategies, contributing to a positive school climate and

Qualifications

• Eligibility: U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; 17-25 by July 1, 2025; background check required; start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement behavior management systems
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, monitor, and review student data
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Support extended day and virtual programming before/during/after school
• Recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
