Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry‑level, full‑time role focused on coaching and mentoring students across grade levels. You will plan and monitor individual progress, support teachers in class, and participate in school-wide initiatives to boost attendance and achievement. Training is provided at year start, with benefits and a living stipend.

Ideal candidates are ready to commit to July/August 2025 start, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and have a GED or high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coaching 1:1 and in small groups to support student learning
• Develop literacy and/or math activities for varied levels
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress
• Create a safe and engaging classroom space with teachers
• Support extended day and after-school programs
• Contribute to school-wide engagement initiatives with families
