Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is an entry-level, full-time role focused on coaching and mentoring students across elementary to high school levels. You will work with teachers to support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors, with 2–4 weeks of initial training to prepare you for service.

This paid AmeriCorps position emphasizes teamwork, student-centered activities, and ongoing progress monitoring in a school setting, with opportunities to impact communities positively.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year to support you.
• Commitment to supporting elementary, middle and/or high school students to achieve academic success.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with student-centered activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor student progress and participate in reviews.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
