Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school, supporting academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. Training provided at year start; 2-4 weeks; you'll work with teachers and staff.

This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes preparing progress, leading in-class support, and contributing to school-wide initiatives. Eligibility includes U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and readiness to start by July/August 2025.

Qualifications

• Experience in these tasks is not necessary.
• 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA status not eligible).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers, including in-class instruction and after-school activities.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space and support extended programs before, during, and after school.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
