Job summary

City Year is seeking a City Year AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors by planning and monitoring progress and collaborating with teachers.

Roles include 1:1 and small-group work, literacy and math skill development, and creating a safe classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Becoming a City Year AmeriCorps member requires a high school diploma or GED, some college experience, or a college degree.
• Experience coaching or mentoring students is not required; training is provided at year start.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class.
• Deliver small-group and 1:1 literacy and math activities.
• Create a supportive, engaging classroom space with teachers.
