Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic outcomes, attendance, and positive behaviors. Training is provided, with 2–4 weeks at the start of the year and ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff.

Members support 1:1 and small groups, create engaging learning environments, and help with after-school and enrichment programs to foster student growth and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Provide coaching and mentoring to students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress; support teachers with in-class activities.
• Work with teachers and staff to create engaging and safe learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management plan for students.
• Incorporate strategies to encourage assignment completion and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers to track student progress and participate in data reviews.
• Foster a positive classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and after-school programs for enrichment and leadership.
